New Residents

Welcome New Resident

Welcome to the Village of Grayslake. The Village wants to provide you with easy to use, accurate information on Village services. In the New Resident portion of the website, the Village has provided basic information that residents need to be aware of when first moving to the Village.

Since you have chosen Grayslake as your home, you already appreciate the qualities that make Grayslake a special place. Your Village government provides many important services including police protection, water and sewer services, street maintenance, snowplowing, railroad, commuter parking, and garbage and recycling services, and more. Continued innovation, including technology investments, process reengineering, and the use of private contractors rather than public payrolls, makes our services the least expensive possible.

Unlike many suburbs, Grayslake has over 100 years of rich history since its incorporation in 1895. The historic downtown and adjoining heritage neighborhood, with its many historic homes displaying architecture of the 20th century, provide a Village Center for the entire community. Bike paths connect neighborhoods, parks, forest preserves, and recreation facilities. We have an abundance of protected open spaces, youth sports groups, schools, and many products and services provided by a growing business community are just some of the things that make Grayslake the best place to live.

If you would like more information on municipal services or general questions about the Village, please call the Request for Service System at (847) 223-8515 or use the Village's website or to set up water/sewer and garbage/recycling services.
