Part-Time Sustainability Coordinator

Are you someone who is passionate about sustainability?  The Village of Grayslake is seeking applicants for a part-time Sustainability Coordinator position to work approximately 20 hours per week.  The Village seeks applicants that value a flexible schedule.  The starting wage is $25 +/-per hour.  This is non-benefit position.  The successful applicant will lead in the research, development, and implementation of sustainable programs and initiatives and help further the goals included in the Village of Grayslake Sustainability Plan 2017. 

Under the general direction of Management Services, duties primarily include: researching, developing, and implementing the action items included in the Grayslake Sustainability Plan 2017, researching and providing recommendations on additional sustainable programs or initiatives that can further the Village’s sustainability goals, identifying and making application for sustainability grant opportunities, and promoting the Village’s sustainable programs and initiatives. 

This position requires a self-motivated and dependable individual who is organized and flexible; provides attention to detail and has the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.  This position also requires effective communication skills.   Daily interaction with various Village staff, senior management, and department heads will occur on a regular basis. 

Minimum of bachelor’s degree with major coursework in sustainability or related fields,   previous experience in municipal government or sustainable programming or equivalent knowledge and training are required.  Certificate in Sustainable Management or related field a plus.

Part-Time Village Center Coordinator

Are you someone who has a passion for collaborative marketing and promotion of a local destination for events, dining, shopping and more?  The Village of Grayslake is seeking applicants for a part-time Village Center Coordinator position to work approximately 20 hours per week.  The Village seeks applicants that value a flexible schedule.  The starting wage is $25 +/- per hour.  This is non-benefit position.  The successful applicant will lead in the coordination and communication with various Village Center stakeholders (businesses, event organizers, etc.) regarding the promotion of Village Center events and activities to increase visits to the Village Center.  This position will also research, develop, and implement various marketing and communications initiatives to support and promote the Village Center. 

Under the general direction of Management Services, duties primarily include: being the walking, talking Village Center person / information source, fostering and maintaining positive collaborative working relationships with Village Center businesses and stakeholders, continuously communicating about and promoting Village Center events and other happenings, and managing the Village Center promotional program with the goal of increasing visits to the Village Center. 

This position requires an energetic, outgoing, self-motivated and dependable individual who is organized and flexible; provides attention to detail and has the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.  This position also requires effective communication skills.  Daily interaction with various Village staff, senior management, and department heads will occur on a regular basis. 

Minimum of bachelor’s degree with major coursework in marketing, communications, business management or related fields, is required.  Previous practical experience in small retail management, downtown association marketing / management, or other business management & communications experience a plus.

Part-Time Code Enforcement Official

Are you someone who values a flexible schedule and desires to work to maintain the quality of the community? The Village of Grayslake is seeking applicants for a part-time Code Enforcement Official position to work approximately 15 hours per week. Weekly hours will vary by season.  The starting rate of pay is $25 +/- per hour.  This is non-benefit position. 

With support of the Building Commissioner, duties primarily include: administering established processes to work with residents to achieve compliance related to routine property maintenance, proactively inspecting the community to identify property maintenance issues and working with residents to achieve satisfactory outcomes. 

This position requires an effective communicator who is outgoing, organized, self-motivated and dependable.  The successful applicant will have the ability to handle and prioritize multiple work items and other responsibilities simultaneously.  Daily interaction with residents and Village staff will occur on a regular basis. 

This is a non-technical position that does not require detailed knowledge of building codes.  This position will deal primarily with routine property maintenance items that are easily identifiable through visual inspections. Minimum of bachelor’s degree or extensive relevant equivalent work experience, is preferred.  Previous experience and/or familiarity with municipal ordinances is a plus.
