Management Analyst

The Village of Grayslake (population 21,248) is located in central Lake County, approximately forty (40) miles north of Chicago. The Village of Grayslake is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Management Analyst position.

The Management Analyst is a highly responsible position within the Office of the Village Manager. Under the general direction of the Village Manager and other members of the management team, but using independent judgement, this position is responsible for assisting the Village Manager in the development, administration, and coordination of various organizational functions and programs. These activities include working with Village Departments on specific projects, communicating goals and objectives to Village Departments and the general public, and assisting in the development and implementation of special projects.

The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have proven technical skills in various software applications including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Powerpoint. This position requires a high level of integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate must be able to prioritize work responsibilities, meet deadlines, exercise good judgement, and work independently as well as part of a team in a small office environment. Excellent customer service and leadership skills as well as a willingness to take on new responsibilities is a must.

The degree requirements of this position include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or related field. A Master’s Degree in Public or Business Administration is preferred. Two years of relevant municipal government experience or in a municipal government internship is required.  

Starting salary is $57,000 +/- with an excellent benefits package.

Public Works Department Laborer

The Village of Grayslake (population 21,248) is located in central Lake County, approximately forty (40) miles north of Chicago.  The Village is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time position of Laborer within the Village’s Public Works Department. 

This is a full-time crew worker position, performing non-skilled and limited semi-skilled labor.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be able to perform routine labor tasks in order to maintain Village streets, buildings, grounds, landscaping, rights-of-way and water and sewer utilities.  The position will be expected to assist in the village’s snow plow operations.  The work schedule can vary depending on weather and other factors. 

The starting salary for this position is $43,493 with an excellent benefit package.  A minimum level of experience in manual labor work and in the operation of light and medium equipment is required; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.  The successful applicant will be required to submit to a pre-employment physical examination and drug test.  Applicants should possess a CDL driver’s license or be eligible to obtain one within three months of hire.
