We are currently in Phase III of Governor Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan, which includes a maximum gathering of ten people, making it effectively impossible to staff the facility and still have guests. It is unknown if pools will even be allowed to open in Phase IV of the plan, which the State of Illinois will not move into until the end of June at the earliest. In Phase IV there is a maximum gathering of 50 people, still making it effectively impossible to fully staff the facility and have guests.
With the logistical challenges of planning in this changing environment, the limits on gatherings and social distancing requirements (6 feet distances and required face masks) per Governor Pritzker’s orders, the uncertainty of when we will move through the phases and what phase pools would be allowed to fully open in, the Village Board elected to keep the aquatic center closed for the season.
