Are you someone who is passionate about sustainability? The Village of Grayslake is seeking applicants for a part-time Sustainability Coordinator position to work approximately 20 hours per week.
The Village seeks applicants that value a flexible schedule. The starting wage is $25 +/-per hour. This is non-benefit position. The successful applicant will lead in the research, development, and implementation of sustainable programs and initiatives and help further the goals included in the Village of Grayslake Sustainability Plan 2017.
Under the general direction of Management Services, duties primarily include: researching, developing, and implementing the action items included in the Grayslake Sustainability Plan 2017, researching and providing recommendations on additional sustainable programs or initiatives that can further the Village’s sustainability goals, identifying and making application for sustainability grant opportunities, and promoting the Village’s sustainable programs and initiatives.
This position requires a self-motivated and dependable individual who is organized and flexible; provides attention to detail and has the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously. This position also requires effective communication skills. Daily interaction with various Village staff, senior management, and department heads will occur on a regular basis.
Minimum of bachelor’s degree with major coursework in sustainability or related fields, previous experience in municipal government or sustainable programming or equivalent knowledge and training are required. Certificate in Sustainable Management or related field a plus.
