Oral historian Amanda Riggenbach will discuss the array of oral histories she collected directly following the pivotal year in our history. This event also directly ties to our most recent exhibit, Focus on Grayslake.
Amanda Riggenbach is the Education and Engagement Program Coordinator at the Peoria Riverfront Museum in Peoria, Illinois. She also works as a community oral historian in Peoria where she has started an oral history project at the Peoria Riverfront Museum and gives presentations throughout the community. Prior to the Peoria Riverfront Museum, Riggenbach was the Tumultuous 2020 Project Manager at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois. Tumultuous 2020 is an oral history project focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Illinois through the lens of personal stories. Riggenbach presented on the findings of this project at the 2022 Conference on Illinois History in Springfield, Illinois, and 2022 Oral History Association Annual Conference in Los Angeles, California. Riggenbach holds a Bachelors of Arts in English and Psychology from Bradley University.
