We have been informed by Canadian National Railway that they intend to start sounding horns as soon as tomorrow (10/12) along the Lake County Quiet Zone. The Lake County Quiet Zone runs from Buffalo Grove to Antioch with lots of rail crossings throughout the various towns the trains run through, including Grayslake. All rail crossings must meet new federal rules in order for trains to not blow horns throughout the whole quiet zone. Grayslake’s crossings now meet the rules as we are part of the zone and horns must be used at our crossings. The towns along the rail line are working to adjust their rail crossings to reactivate the Lake County Quiet Zone as soon as possible. When this happens horns will no longer be used.
Thank you for your understanding.
