Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum Executive Director Dave Oberg will discuss the history of Battery H, First Illinois Light Artillery, on Thursday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. Roughly 2/3 of the Battery consisted of recent immigrants. Oberg's great-great grandfather served with Battery H and participated in numerous battles and campaigns, including Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg, the Atlanta Campaign and Sherman's March to the Sea. The brief capture of the Battery is a focal point of Atlanta's Cyclorama. Suggested donation $3 for adults, $1 for children.
