After a month of voting, the winners of the Grayslake Giving Trees contest were announced Dec. 30. The Grayslake Chamber of Commerce and Industry took first place, with 101 votes, followed by Foundation 46 and the American Cancer Society--Relay for Life. In all, 16 local non-profit and community organizations took part in the inaugural display, which opened on November 29. Executive Director Dave Oberg noted, "The real winners were the members of the public. All of the trees were simply spectacular, and we appreciate the time, talent and energy that each participating organization brought to the display. Each tree really brings home the strong sense of community and spirit of caring that makes Grayslake such a wonderful place."
